As we start our day #4 devotionals we are shifting from focus point #1 (Things of Eternal Value) to Focus point #2 which is “Being Built by the Word of God”.
Devotion Day #4 Protecting The Love Letter (Being Built by the Word of God)
The enemy has a huge agenda to get God’s children away from reading God’s word. Sometimes he will cause some to become tired, overwhelmed or too busy. Think about it, the purpose of God’s word runs deep. So deep that it clearly offends the enemy.
Locked inside the Word of God is a power and expression of a un-manufacturable love; its a supernatural love letter that God left for us to read everyday. That’s why the enemy fights against the desire to read Gods word.
John 1:1 says that “In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.” In essence, studying the Word of God is the very act of studying God (Jesus). Communing with Him and seeking to know Him in a more intimate way. Satan will not have you to become intimate with God, so he tries to make it appear as if God’s word can wait. Or, as if it’s a chore to read it. That’s why you must protect the love letter that was so graciously given to you. Fight against all of the tactics of the enemy that try to steal your intimacy away from God.
As the love letter was crafted from the Great Lover himself to us. Us acknowledging and reading it daily is a love offering and spiritual sacrifice unto the Lord(1 Pet 2:5). This is also an investment in our own selves toward the very purposes that God has ordained for us; for His word continues to reveal things that were once hidden to us.
I would encourage you to desire this kind of intimacy of the Word of God (the written word and Jesus Christ Himself). Pursue it with excitement, as God pursues you with excitement. Constantly having a heart of gratitude for receiving the precious gift of God’s word.
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
Lord, thank you for your precious love letter that you wrote to me. Forgive me if I have taken it for granted and put it to the side. Give me the strength tp protect this love letter (Your word). I will make a conscious effort to read it and allow it to give me the faith, hope and love that you intended it to when you wrote if for me. I will share it with others, so they may feel your love as well.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
