Devotion Day #2: Love (Things of Eternal value)
Love has so many aspects to it. But as Christians our love starts from our love for God. Our love toward God will most importantly craft our character. It will pour out into every area of our lives, our speech and how we love & treat those we encounter.
Maybe before you knew God you didn't share with the needy or hungry, but now you do. Or before you knew God you kept good things to yourself instead of letting others in on it too.
1 Cor 13:8 says that "Charity never faileth" "love never fails" . This is the kind of love God has. It is exchanged with us when we truly in all sincerity give God our utmost love. It's this love that will share the good news of a savior with a dying world because just like God we don't desire to see anyone perish. It is this deep love for the Lord that cause our spirit to seek to take care of God's people in spirit and in natural. (Jn 13:35)
It's easy to get caught up in lip service and not actually deliver. Perhaps you've failed to show love at work or to a family member this week. Or passed by a homeless individual with judgemental thoughts in your heart. Remember God sees us and is testing our love. He desires our love be perfected, as His love was perfected and proved on the cross for us.
When you examine your life, your day to day activities what does your love for God look like?
Does your love exude the character of Jesus?
Have you allowed God to exchange with you and give you His kind of love?
Show me today what your love truly looks like. Use me to also show it thoroughly as I go about my day. Let my daily walk and actions exude the love of Christ and not carnal love. Lord, I will willingly and intentionally exchange my ways for yours today and everyday.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
